Rava Dosa

This time these dosas turned out really good...my husband enjoyed it...

Ingredients:

1 cup Rice powder
1/2 cup Rava
1/2 cup Maida(All purpose flour)
1 and a half tsp oil
1/2 inch ginger chopped
1/2 tsp mustard
few sprigs of curry leaves
1 tsp pepper crushed
salt per taste
water required amount.

Method:

In a bowl mix together Rice powder, Rava and All purpose flour and pour water little by little until u get a liquid consistency then add salt as per taste and keep it aside. Now make tadka in a pan by pouring little oil add mustard when mustard starts to splutter add ginger, curry leaves and pepper and pour the tadka into the batter prepared. Mix well and make dosas in the same way you make normal dosas...sometimes u may get a good shape sometimes u may not...but i think taste matters than shape... serve hot rava dosas with chutney or sambhar...

sweet pongal


In this recipe of sweet pongal i have used more sweet but it can be adjusted to your taste..



Ingredients

1 cup rice
1/2 cup moong dal
1 cup jaggery( melted and strained)
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp cashews
1 tsp raisins
1/2 tsp cardamom (powdered)
3 tsp ghee

Method

Cook dal and rice together till done and keep them aside. Heat 1 tsp ghee in a heavy bottom pan and fry the cashews and raisins in it and keep aside. Then add 1 tsp ghee and the cooked dal and rice to the pan. Stir till ghee coats the rice. Now add milk and jaggery to the rice and keep stirring till it starts leaving the sides of the pan, then add the remaining ghee and stir for 2 more min. At last add the raisins and cashews mix well and serve hot.

Ven Pongal


I have tried pongal like 3 or 4 times but i think this is the best recipe till date...both sweet and ven pongal turned out good...


Ingredients
1 cup rice
1/2 cup moong dal
1 cup milk
1 tsp jeera
1 tsp whole pepper
1/2 tsp coarsely powdered pepper
1 tsp cashews
2 and a half tsp ghee
salt to taste

Method

Cook moong dal and rice together till done and keep aside. Heat 1 tsp ghee in a deep pan and fry cashews and keep them aside...now add the remaining ghee and wait till it melts then put jeera in it wait till it splutters then add the whole pepper. Now add cooked dal and rice to the pan. Stir a bit and add milk to the rice and keep stirring till everything is mixed well and till u get the required consistency then season it with salt and pepper. At the end you can add cashews and switch off the heat. Serve hot with coconut chutney.

Sponge cake recipe

This is my first post on my blog...i was searching for a perfect sponge cake for a very long time...whenever i tried it was a hard sponge cake...but this recipe made my day..it gave me a perfect sponge cake with a little help from my husband.

Ingredients
4 eggs
1 and a half cup sugar
1 and a half cup flour
1 and a half tsp baking powder
half tsp salt
1 and a half tsp vanila essense
3/4 cup boiling water

Method
Beat eggs until frothy...it takes time....then add sugar and beat until lemony in color. Add flour, baking powder, salt mix well until blended. Stir in the boiling water. Pour it in a greased pan, probably in a glass pan and bake it for 35 min at 350 degree farenheit or till its done.
